About

We live here. That’s the whole point.

Just Love Malta is a plan-and-book guide to Malta and Gozo, written by a family who actually live here — the people behindThe Little Lovedays. We sold our home in the UK for a slower life in Gozo: two kids, four dogs, and a third baby on the way.

It started as the same handful of questions landing in our inbox every week — where to stay, where to eat, what’s actually worth doing, and how to book it without ten browser tabs. We kept writing the answers out by hand. This is those answers, in one place, with the booking a click away.

We travel with young children, so a lot of what we flag is parent-specific — but the honest verdict underneath is for anyone. Couples, friends, grandparents: the practical detail is the same, and we say plainly who each place actually suits.

What makes this different from a listicle

Anyone can rank the top ten beaches in Malta from a desk in another country. What they cannot tell you is that the walk down is brutal with a pushchair, that the good shade is gone by eleven, that the café stops serving food at three, or that the loo has a shelf rather than a changing table.

That is the only thing we are trying to be good at. Every entry carries the practical, parent-specific detail we would want someone to have told us.

How we decide what goes on the site

Two kinds of entry, and we always say which is which.

We’ve been

We have physically been, with our own children. These get our rating, the date we went, and kid-factors we checked ourselves. There are9 of them so far.

Not been yet

Somewhere we have been told about by local friends and families, or that is well regarded here, but we have not visited. These never get a rating, and we say plainly where the recommendation came from.

We would rather show you a short honest list than a long dishonest one. If we haven’t been somewhere, saying so costs us nothing and tells you everything.

How we make money

Some links here are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. That is what pays for the site.

It does not buy a good review. Nobody pays us to be included, and we have written unflattering things about places we earn from. If that ever stops being true, the site is worthless and so are we.

Get in touch

If something here is out of date, or a place has changed hands, or you think we have got it wrong — tell us. We would rather fix it than be wrong in public.
